ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Garrett

This is me
Me again (blonde hair is gone, don't worry)

Hey! My name is Garrett, and I'm from Buffalo, New York, currently studying biomedical engineering at Florida State University. Most of my interests revolve around sports, soccer and basketball in particular, but I also enjoy recreational sports or activities such as hiking and water-sports such as wakeboarding and water-skiing.
At the moment, I am taking the class ENC2135, an English-based class diving into research, genre, and context. Multiple large projects have been assigned, however; the final one involved the creation of a narrative designed around an aspect studied in a work of fiction used in a previous project. The idea was to create the narrative and promote it using three social media accounts along with a website, which you are currently on. The Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat for this narrative can be found under the social media tab above.

For the previous project that I analyzed, I chose The Silence of the Lambs, a film revolved around an FBI trainee trying to catch a serial killer with the help of Hannibal Lecter, a cannibalistic serial killer. Hannibal suffers from Antisocial Personality Disorder, which seems to be the cause of his journey as a serial killer. I focused on how accurately this mental illness of his was portrayed throughout the film, and then in this project, I created a narrative, "Struggling for Strength," about a boy who also struggles to cope with ASPD in his development of life.

I encourage you to check out the flash fiction series, and really understand what some people may be going through. Many effects of mental illness are similar across varying types, and it's really important to make everyone feel like they are equal and shouldn't be ashamed to reach out for help. Feel free to leave feedback on our Twitter, Instagram, or even Snapchat. It'd be greatly appreciated!
